Technical and Vocational Education in Lagos State

Gone are the days when parents were reluctant to send their children/wards to Technical Schools because they believed that such Schools were meant for dropouts from Public or Private Secondary Schools.
Let me inform you that today, people with technical knowledge are getting contracts worth several thousands if not millions of Naira from individuals, public and private organizations.
A friend in the UK once told me that he regretted not acquiring a technical skill while in Nigeria. He disclosed to me that Nigerians in the UK and elsewhere around the world with technical skills are making it financially.

Today, the Lagos State Government makes use of graduates from its Technical colleges for different developmental projects round the State.

You cannot afford to miss another opportunity to enroll your child/wards in one of the Technical colleges in Lagos State.
In fact, you as parents can even enroll to study a course of interest; this hopefully could be another source of income flow.
Dear parents, did you know that on 23rd, July 2014 the second edition of the Lagos State Enterprise Day was held at NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State?
The Enterprise Day, organized by the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board, aims to develop a new generation of entrepreneurs and promote networking of successful entrepreneurs from the Technical Colleges across the State.

The Deputy Governor made it known that successful entrepreneurs from the colleges have the opportunity to access loans to start a business venture. The loan according to her attracts a single digit interest and let me quickly add that the loan comes without collateral and repayment starts when the business is solidly footed.

“The loan will be processed through the Lagos State Micro Finance Institution, and forms will be provided for the graduates at their institutions.” Orelope Adefulire said.

The Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye and her counterpart in the Ministry of Agriculture  and Cooperative, Prince Gbolahan Lawal among other eminent personalities graced the occasion.
Successful Entrepreneurs: Mr Cornell Mcbride Snr, founder, Mcbride Research Laboratory (MRL), United States; Mrs Nike Ogunlesi, founder, Ruff ‘N’ Tumble; Mr Adebola Williams, founder, Future Awards; and Mr Paul Orajiaka, CEO, Auldon Toys were brought in to inspire and motivate the graduating entrepreneurs.

Five winners from each of the five technical Colleges who earlier participated in a competition on Presentation Skills and Business Writing received from Access Bank cash donations. They are, Fatai Aliu from ikotun, Abdul-Malik Ololade from epe, Emeka Agwu ikorodu, Nurudeen sobolade and Uchena azeanya.

Let me have your feedback, questions or comments.
