Have you heard that the Lagos State Government has stopped transfer of students into JSS 2 and SSS2 in the State’s Public Schools? The move becomes necessary to reduce classroom congestion and pressure on infrastructures. Important too is the issue of performances of candidates in the Junior WAEC and final SSS3 WAEC examinations.
It has become noticeable that students on transfer, many of whom are either from other states or those asked to repeat in other schools, do not always have adequate time to prepare for the terminal examinations; this obviously leads to poor performances in the said examinations.
As you may all be aware, the administration of Babatunde Raji Fashola places premium on quality and affordable education, in the light of this, the State will not tolerate unhealthy practices which may jeopardize the sanity that has been brought into the State’s educational system.
It will be recalled that some time ago, the governor observed that performance in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) has increased from seven percent in 2007 to thirty nine in 2012. The Lagos State Government is committed to increasing the tempo and for this to happen; all hands must be on deck.
The Executive Chairman of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs G. K. Daodu reiterated this when she met with Heads of Primary Schools in the State recently at the Blue Roof, LTV by saying that henceforth; there will be no more transfer into JSS 2 and SSS 2classes.
The only choice you have is- Admission into Lagos Public Schools
