Objectives of the Board?
- To stimulate and encourage technical and vocational education not only as a basis for creating early technical awareness, but also to provide suitable orientation for further learning, entrepreneurship and employment
- To be responsible for efficient management and the establishment of technical and vocational education at the post primary School level
- To ensure and collaborate with a wide range of partners and stakeholders to attract additional resources, information and investments so as to improve the quality of technical and vocational education in the State
What the Board will do
Provide
relevant, functional and accessible technical and vocational education for
acquisition of relevant and professional occupation.
Prescribe
standard skills to be attained and to contribute to review such standard as may
be necessitated by current technological trends and the peculiar need of the
state.
Ensure that
programmes offered in the Technical Colleges (Vocational Centres) conform to
National and State policies on Technical Education and satisfy the prescribed
requirements and standards.
Ensure that
the practicing artisans in the State are trained and retrained in acquisition
of skills in modern technology, functional numeracy, ICT and development in the
area of record keeping.
Encourage
women to enter into a wider range of fields of Technical and vocational
education.
Liaise with
external examination bodies; enter into International staff and students
exchange programmes.
Secure
grants and organise credits for students to enable them acquire tools after
graduation.
Collate,
analyse and publish information relating to technical and Vocational Education
in the State.
Inculcate in
the public an attitude of respect for and the appreciation of the role of
technology in the society.
Expand the
facilities for the training and retraining of technical teachers and ensure
that these teachers are exposed during and after training to modern industrial
experience.

have in Lagos State?
Presently,
there are five technical colleges in the State, they are:
