As part of activities marking the Year 2025 Public Service Week, the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has organized a free HIV testing and counselling exercise for public servants across the state.
The exercise, held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, between 3rd and 6th October, 2025 witnessed the participation of staff from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) who benefited from the screening and counselling sessions.
During an inspection of the screening points, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, reiterated the government’s commitment to sustainable healthcare delivery for its workforce. He stressed that maintaining good health is critical to productivity and urged public officers to take advantage of available free health screening opportunities to detect health conditions early and seek proper care.
Mr. Agoro further assured that the state government remains dedicated to providing a conducive and healthy working environment for its workforce while commending public servants for their continued dedication and service to the state.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of LSACA, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, described the theme of the 2025 Public Service Week, "Deepening Technology for a Smart and Agile Public Service" is well thought out as an effective HIV management and control rely heavily on acute data collection analysis and the use of modern technology to guide interventions, monitor progress and improve outcomes for people living with HIV (PLHIV) adding that the integration of data and technology ensures evidence-based decision-making and efficient allocation of resources.
Dr. Animashaun disclosed that public servants benefited from the free HIV testing and counselling sessions, which also included the distribution of condoms and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials. She reaffirmed the state’s commitment to expanding HIV testing and counselling services, promoting awareness, and ensuring that all residents have access to the necessary resources for prevention, testing, and treatment as part of the state government’s ongoing effort to curb the spread of the virus.
Animashaun noted that the free HIV screening and Counselling service is one of the strategies deployed by the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency to reach members of the community adding that Public Servants benefited from the free HIV Screening, HIV Counselling sections, as well as the distribution of free condoms and IEC materials to members of the public.
She however emphasized the state's unwavering commitment to improving access to healthcare services highlighting the importance of increased awareness campaigns and the expansion of HIV testing and counseling centers across the state as the state is dedicated to curbing the spread of the virus and ensuring that all residents have access to the necessary resources for prevention, testing, and treatment.
