The year 2016/2017 Academic session will commence in Lagos State's public and private schools on Monday, 19th September 2016.
The Deputy Governor of Lagos state, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule who made this known recently in her Eid-l-Kabir message to stakeholders in education sector said classes will start running from the resumption date as there would be no time to waste.
She commended teachers in the state for their dedication to duty which according to her manifest in the results of the various external examinations and competitions that the students participated in. She noted that the result of the last West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) was a clear departure from the past and it was commendable.
Adebule urged both teaching and non-teaching staff of public schools in the state to report at their duty posts promptly as officers of the Education Quality Assurance have been directed to monitor strict compliance, adding that anyone found wanting would be sanctioned appropriately.
The Deputy Governor also urged parents to ensure that their children and wards resume on the said date even as the State Government has completed arrangements for all public schools in the state to commence academic exercise without hitches. She warned that erring pupils and students will be duly dealt with.
