OANDO FOUNDATION TO COMMENCE INTERVENTION IN LAGOS

Oando Foundation has intervened in selected schools in Lagos State with a focus on primary Schools through its Adopt-A-School programme.

This was disclosed by Mrs. Tokunbo Durosaro, Director of Oando Foundation when she visited the Ministry of Education with her Management Team recently.

In her welcome address, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye thanked the foundation for choosing education as its main focus especially Primary Schools being the foundation for formal Education.

According to the Commissioner, the Lagos State Government is totally committed to the provision of quality education but cannot do it all alone due to limited resources and huge number of primary schools which is over one thousand.

She disclosed that Lagos State’s population poses a challenge because there is a lot of pressure to adequately service other amenities such as roads, quality health service to mention a few, but added that with the support of corporate Organizations like Oando, the aim of government in providing qualitative education will be achieved.

Mrs. Oladunjoye reiterated the need for Private Sector to collaborate with the state government in order to sustain the developmental policies and programmes of the state.

The Oando team made a presentation in which they highlighted their reasons for focusing on Primary Schools and their plans for the selected schools.
